Welcome FALL!!

So, fall is here! Not necessarily the cooler temperatures, but summer in every other way is over. Work has picked up for me as A&M students came back last week, we're enjoying football season beginning, and looking forward to a great semester. Yes, living in a college town still has us refer to seasons as "semesters."

Here are a few things we are looking forward to this fall:

1) Community Group - we have been so blessed to be a part of the Lee's (our new NEIGHBORS!) group the last 3 (Jared) and 1.5 (Risa) years. We are going to be in a new group this year with some other couples in our church. We are excited for what the Lord has in store for our new group but will miss our friends in our old group! Here is a picture of a lot of our old group (plus quite a few more!) at a couple's shower in May.
2) Football - We love A&M football and love getting to go to the games with my parents. The first game was last weekend and Caroline joined us for her first Aggie game.

She was a little overwhelmed at first, but then warmed up to the adoring crowd around her and learned to clap(ish) for the Aggies!
The feeling is mutual!!

3) Seattle - We get to go to Seattle next month with my work! Jared gets to come along with my boss and 30ish Business Honors students. Fun!!


4) Our new house! We move in less than 3 weeks and are excited to get settled.

This summer was obviously the best summer ever but we are excited for the fall as well! We feel so blessed and are excited to continue starting our lives together.

Today is my hubby of two months BIRTHDAY! He is turning the big 2-9 today. In honor of his birthday, I wanted to share a list of 29 qualities that I gave him on a card this morning. For Sale...to SOLD!

We have been quite busy the last few weeks with some unexpected decisions regarding our housing situation. About a month ago we started talking about the *remote* possibility of moving to a different part of Bryan. There were quite a few reasons why (living closer to friends/people in our life stage, great time to buy a house, etc) but ultimately we were not in a position where we really needed to move.

After talking to a couple of Realtors, we realized how terrible of a time it is to sell a home in Bryan/College Station (or probably anywhere!). We went ahead and put it on the market with open hands, not wanting to get our hopes up about moving.

Well, less than 2 weeks later, we have a contract on our house!! We couldn't believe it. We didn't get a call the first week but then within 4 days 3 different people came and viewed it and one came again and put an offer down the next day. So, here we are, 2 months (yesterday!) into marriage and are getting ready to buy another house and move. This was definitely not on our radar 2 months ago!

2010 is definitely a year of transition for the Meyers but we are so thankful for this open door the Lord has given. We are excited for where we are headed next. I will keep you updated...but we may be next-door neighbors to our close friends, the Lees! We are so thankful for the Lord's provision way above and beyond our expectations.

We're Baaaack!

Our faithful blog readers (probably very few to begin with and even fewer now!)--the Meyers are back! We have been married for almost 5 weeks now so if anyone needs marital advice please let us know.

Seriously though, we have SO enjoyed this time. The wedding was absolutely perfect in every way. We loved the ceremony, had so much fun at the reception, and were able to treasure every part of a very special weekend. Here are a few pictures. Speaking of Belize, we had the most amazing time the week after our wedding. I will devote a whole blog post to it in the next few days. We are so thankful for the Lord's blessings showered upon us during this season.

Remember that time I didn't post for two weeks?

Well, apparently I haven't gotten off to a great start on this little blog of ours. Here's to hoping post-marriage brings more blog posts!

It's our WEDDING WEEK!! We are beyond excited and so ready for Saturday to be here. During this time of engagement we have been so blessed by our friends and family celebrating and honoring us during this time. This morning I am just blown away by how many people we are blessed with in our lives that love us so well! It is easy to get bogged down by the details and to do lists but we do want to enjoy and remember this time.

Family starts arriving today and the next few days will be filled with wedding-related events until we leave for BELIZE on Sunday!

Way back when-sday

I always enjoy reading my friend Allison's Way back when-sday posts so I thought today was a perfect day to copy her fun tradition! I am uploading pictures for our rehearsal dinner slide show today and have come across some really fun pictures. I do want to share a couple of the progression of my hair over the years.

First, kindergarten with the hot red tights and HUGE bow! My hair was in the "fountaintop" do for all of childhood until my mom let me grow it out in first grade. And next, we have my gem of a picture from 8th grade. It was at the moment we got our school pictures back I realized how large my hair had become. I tried to convince my friends it was so big because I was laughing and holding my head back but deep down I knew the truth. Something must be done about the hair! My sister made me lean back in the passenger seat when she was driving me around because my hair blocked her view. Shameful. I'd also like to point out I was still missing teeth. In 8th grade. I didn't lose my first tooth until 3rd and didn't lose them all until after 8th grade. Talk about a rough year.Anyway, hope you all enjoyed a little flashback of my hair!! Happy Wednesday!

Writers Block Already?

Well, faithful blog readers, it has already hit. What do I write about on this little blog of mine/ours? I have come to the conclusion our life is actually pretty boring. However, my soon-to-be brother-in-law Jason said if I don't post at least twice in the first week of a blog's existence its chance of long-term survival is bleak. Sad.

With that being said, I had an amazing bachelorette weekend with some of my best friends at my parents' lake house! I did not get my camera out one time but I can count of them to get me some of the pictures from the weekend that I will share soon! We just laid out at the lake and pool, ate way too much, had a few dance parties, and just enjoyed being away for a weekend! Caroline was going to join in on the fun but only lasted until Saturday morning because she had one rough night Friday night. Poor girl had to go home early and spend the rest of the weekend with dad.

In other news, I wanted to share where Jared and I are going for our honeymoon! We will be spending a week in BELIZE at an adventure and dive resort. It sounds way cooler than we actually are but we can't wait!!

Welcome to Our Blog!

Well...I took the plunge and started a blog! I have no idea what will be written on here but I love reading blogs so now is a great time to start one! Jared and I are getting married on June 19th...just 33 days away! We are so excited to begin our lives together. I hope this blog is a testament to our thankfulness to what the Lord has done and is doing in our lives. I will try to update as much as possible but we'll see how that goes! Thankfully I have a very precious niece that I can always post pictures of and hopefully get a few (family) readers. Here is one precious one taken by our good friend, Steph Lee. Sweet Caroline Jade is 7 months now and is proud of her two teeth!
